Eamon on JAVA

#002 The Lair of the Minotaur - By Donald Brown

You should see an Apple ][+ here. Try installing Java. Instructions: Wait for the Java Applet to load. Hit reset to begin. The disk image will load at the "standard" speed of an Apple II+. Once loaded, you can play The Lair of the Minotaur.

The emulator will not work with 80-columns.
Do not select an 80-column display!

This disk uses the "Fresh Sam" program and does not access the main hall. The disk is write protected. When the adventure is finished, you will not be able to return to the main hall. For best gameplay, download a "regular" emulator and disk image.

If nothing appears in the box to the left, you have a problem with Java. Try downloading it from http://www.java.com

If you crash the program, scroll down to "Crashing into a cursor"

The following adventures have been set up to use JAVA:

001 The Beginner's Cave Play now using JAVA
002 The Lair of the Minotaur Play now using JAVA
124 Assault on Dolni Keep Play now using JAVA
246 The Sword of Inari Play now using JAVA

More adventures will be added if there is sufficient demand.

Fresh Sam is an Eamon utility which allows one to launch an adventure directly using a standard character. The character has the following attributes:

Name: Sam
Hardiness: 24    Agility: 18    Charisma: 24

Blast: 65%    Heal: 168%    Speed: 63%    Power: 122%
Axe: 39%     Bow: 0%    Club: 36%    Spear: 34%    Sword: 67
Chain and Shield - AE: 25%

Crystal Sword    60%    10 D 2
Sword               10%       5 D 4
Starfire                80%    10 D 6
Druinval               30%    4 D 8

Crashing into a cursor:

If you see this,       then its quite possible that the program has crashed.
  1. If the computer drops into a cursor the very first time you try to type something, make sure you clicked the "screen" area before hitting any keys. This is especially a problem in Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you don't click the cursor, MSIE remembers the last button you were using and when you hit the space bar, it resets the emulator. Type IN#6 to reboot.
  2. If you were actually in the adventure try typing POKE 51,0: GOTO 100.
  3. If that doesn't work, type IN#6 to reboot the emulator or just re-load the page.

This Apple II emulator for JAVA was written by Steven E. Huggs, who has made his source code available. Special thanks to Andrew Gregory for his assistance in setting up this page.
